Dear JA Families,

Thank you to all of the Junior Academy families who supported this year’s October Food Drive. We were one of fifteen schools participating in Sarah and Claire’s Food Challenge in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank The overall goal for this year was to raise 22,000 pounds of food and all told, we raised 44,000 pounds of food. The Junior Academy should be particularly proud of their efforts as we raised the most food per capita at 12.4 pounds per student. Congratulations JA!

Annual Fund

Great news, contributions continue to come at a steady rate and we are hopeful that most families will be supporting this year’s campaign. Because of your generous donations and pledges, we have already surpassed the $30, 000 mark! If you haven’t made your contribution yet, we hope that all families will make a contribution suitable to their individual circumstance. Thank you to everybody for their generosity!

Survey Monkey

In order to provide all families with the opportunity to provide input about a few key topics, I have drafted five questions based on discussions in the round table meetings that occurred earlier this month. Please take a few moments to complete this anonymous Survey Monkey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CR3BPPS  Please note, this survey will only remain open until Monday, October 29th.

Halloween

Students are invited to come in costume next Wednesday, October 31st.  If your child chooses to wear a costume for Halloween, please ensure that their choice is appropriate, inclusive, and respectful.  Toy weapons of any sort are not permitted at school.  Any participation in Halloween activities is completely voluntary.  Those who choose to participate and those who choose not to are both equally deserving of respect during Halloween celebrations.

Should you wish to send in a treat with your child as part of Halloween activities, we require that it be nut-free, and we encourage you to consider non-food treats such as cards, pencils, or stickers.

We will have a brief assembly on Wednesday morning 8:45 a.m. and parents are invited to join us in the gym for a costume parade followed by a Halloween story. Assembly should conclude by 9:10. Due to limited parking in the lot behind the school we ask that parents park on a side street.

Please note, there are no after school clubs on October 31st
